Acupuncture
Acupuncture is just one of many therapeutic modalities known as Oriental Medicine, or Traditional Chinese Medicine that originated in China over 5,000 years ago.  Oriental Medicine includes herbal medicine, physical therapy, dietetics and special exercises (such as Tai Chi and Qi Gong), and is a complete medical system that addresses the whole person. Acupuncture evolved from principles and philosophies unique to Oriental thinking, principally that all living beings have a vital energy that circulates throughout the body. An imbalance in the flow of this energy can manifest in many health issues, and one of the principal objectives in acupuncture is to restore the balance and flow of vital energy to the body.

Under the direction of Dr. Joann Kim, a chiropractor and acupuncturist, a whole person approach to chiropractic care is offered to patients. Fundamental to Dr. Kim’s practice is the correction of energy imbalances and the removal of obstructions of the body’s vital energies (chi) that flow in distinct pathways called meridians. When body systems are blocked, pain, discomfort, and imbalances occur. Combining her expertise in acupuncture with chiropractic care, Dr. Kim specializes in pain management, women’s health, herbal medicine, and nutrition guidance.
