Charles Schwarz, MD Tikkun Holistic Medical Center represents the evolution of a Santa Monica orthopedic surgery practice established by Charles Schwarz, MD in 1987. The foundation of the practice continues to be based upon a personalized approach to each individual from a whole person perspective. Integrating evidence-based complementary and alternative therapies with conventional Western medicine in a “best of both worlds” approach, patients benefit from a comprehensive multi disciplinary approach by Dr. Schwarz and his team of medical providers. A graduate of the George Washington University School of Medicine, his general surgery residency was at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, and his orthopedic surgery residency at Union Memorial/Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Before pursing his medical degrees, Dr. Schwarz received a Master’s of Science Degree in Community Health and Environmental Sciences from California State University, Northridge followed with courses in Environmental and Nutritional Sciences in the Doctoral Program at the School of Public Health at the University of California, Los Angeles. A fellowship in Knee Reconstruction and Sports Medicine was under the direction of Martin E. Blazina, M.D. Dr. Schwarz is also certified by the American Board of Holistic Medicine with emphasis in integrative medicine therapies including herbal medicine, homeopathy, naturopathic medicine, acupuncture, environmental medicine, and allopathic modalities. Dr. Schwarz incorporates traditional western medicine with a diagnostic approach that addresses the physical, mental and emotional aspects of his patients. Under his direction, services at Tikkun Holistic Medicine include lifestyle assessments, exercise and physical therapy, acupuncture, naturopathic medicine, chiropractic care, therapeutic massage, weight management, detoxification programs, herbal medicine, and natural medications. Specializing in arthritis and musculoskeletal pain management, Dr. Schwarz is actively involved in research and clinical trials utilizing Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, a non surgical regenerative tissue treatment effective for cartilage, ligament, and tendon repair. Dedicated to expanding awareness of the value and benefits of a holistic approach to medicine, Dr. Schwarz has developed Tikkun Holistic Medicine to serve as a medical, research, and educational facility.
